Every member of DACS has a unique, storied background.
J.C's story:
After receiving my bachelor's degree from The University of South Florida, I began US Army officer training in OCS, BOLC II, and BOLC III branching signal corps. Once my training was completed, I was attached to a military police battalion as the battalion S6 officer - overseeing IT operations management, project management, service management, vendor management for all IT/IS concerns, and contracts management.
Later, I volunteered to deploy with a sister battalion to the battlefield of Afghanistan during Operation OEF, 2011 to 2012. As a young lieutenant, almost captain, the training and real-world execution was long and arduous, I had to rely on the training I received during schooling to make sure projects were completed on time, within scope, adequate resources, and within budget. While in Afghanistan, I wore a number of different hats: Network Manager, S6 officer, chief COR (in charge of contracting at the battalion level). As the battalion's COR, I had the opportunity to hone my contracts management skills in a fast-paced combat environment. As a VA combat service-connected disabled veteran, civilian life has had its challenges.
After deployment, I would transition to the civilian sector and continue doing what I loved.
Shortly after entering the workforce I was hired by Hewlett Packard which choose my specialization in IT for me, managed print services - a sub-set of IT infrastructure and operations. There, I was a customer service engineer, responsible for a large territory of clients and the last resort for them concerning break/fix issues. As my career grew, I held roles with increasing responsibility such as: print systems admin, print fleet manager, senior technical site operations manager, manager, vendor management, technical project manager - global services operations. I've managed printer fleets in the thousands of devices and have managed all aspects of client administration, customer service, including contracts, IT service management, contracts management, and vendor management. I've worked along side all types of key stakeholders: C-suite, executives, sponsors, directors, senior managers, functional managers, customers, vendors, and etc., each providing a different but important aspect of how to get things done. Communication is key to achieving organizational goals and objectives.
